About Mauricio

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Mauricio holds a BA in Industrial Design from the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche · ISIA in Florence Italy, and a BA in Graphic Design from the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Bogotá Colombia.

In 1996 he founded his Graphic Design Studio and worked for six years with clients that included Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Justice, Republic Bank of Colombia, National Post Office Administration, National Education Secretary, National University of Colombia, and UNESCO among others. He also taught at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, two of Colombia's leading Universities with a focus on both traditional and digital graphic design.

In 2002 he moved to the US and, worked as a freelance Graphic and Web Designer for companies based in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.

In 2006 Mauricio obtained his Master's degree at ITP, a graduate department in the study and design of interactivity through new media, computational media and embedded computing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. This experience offered him the opportunity to explore and experiment blending his music and design background with interactive media and new technologies.

Also while studying at ITP, he worked for over a year as a Graphic Print and Web Designer for New York University's Office of Student Activities, and taught LEGO robotics for kids at Vision Education & Media, a Manhattan based Organization centered in the use of Technology and New Media in Education. He was a Production Artist at Sequel Studio, a Manhattan design firm, focused in Corporate Branding and Interactive Media and later Senior Broadband Producer at NBC's Oxygen TV Network in New York. Currently he is a Senior Interaction Designer at R/GA, an award winning interactive advertising firm based in New York, where he has worked for five years on accounts that have included Goldman Sachs, Verizon Wireless, Avaya, Barnes & Noble, HBO, Brooklyn Academy of Music - (BAM), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and PwC among others.
